DIY inspo home decoration

Hello guys! <3 Today I'll tell you about some cute home decor ideas that I've been planning for quite a while (as you probably know from my Instagram haha - @arockchicklife) and I'm very happy to finally show you. Let's start with the fact that I really love inspirational and motivational quotes because they all tell a stories that we can learn a lot from. So everytime I stumble upon a cool new quote I usually save it on my computer or to a Pinterest board but I forget about these precious quotes soon enough and I don't reread them often. I wanted to change that and to make sure I don't forget about the lessons they taught me.

So I came up with the idea that I should try to use them as home decoration. The process included me trying to come up with a cool idea, choosing which fave fave inspo quotes I want to use and then printing them out.

The option that worked best for me after trying out some ideas was to arrange the pictures on one of the doors of my wood closet. The contrast between the pictures and the wood is great and also my closet is kinda in the center of the room so I check the quotes out pretty often and stay inspired all the time.

Then I realized that one idea was not enough for me :D There were so many other things I came up with and I ran out of quotes before I could try them out. So I printed out more pictures and tried more ideas.

Here are 2 of the best ones, hope you like them. :)

#1 Cool workspace deco

Your workspace at home is probably the best places for inspo quotes and cute pictures. You spend lots of time there and you really need inspiration when you're working on something. If you have a pinboard or a wall grid you could arrange some pictures together with your notes, to do lists etc. If you don't, just use the wall and glue or hang some beautiful pictures . You will stay inspired and also have a super Instagrammable workspace. ;)

#2 Your own wall deco

I have always been a fan of the idea of art wall pieces where you can create different shapes with photos. It's cute and makes the whole room light up. Plus that you can arrange them any way you want so you have lots of options and can get creative. For example you could pick a color theme and create some shape as I did here or try to create a color effect using photos in different shades of the same color or literally anything else you want.

I've been loving band tees long before it was cool and all over the internet. Now I walk around the street and there are so many teen girls casually wearing Nirvana or Arctic Monkeys tees and it's totally cool for everyone around. But let me tell you it was not that easy to pull off such a look like 10 years ago. After the 80s band craze and everybody rocking band tees all the time it gradually became less and less popular to wear them.

So there I was trying to come up with a cute band tee outfit idea in the 00s. The only people to wear band tees a lot were real metalheads, mostly men and teenboy squads, and it was not really common to see a girl wearing a band tee. Respect to all the few brave girls who proudly started this trend together with me! So yeah, it was a pretty hard task for me to rock a band tee without getting some surprised looks. Who cares tho. It was fun and I was often pairing the outfit with loud rock coming from my earplugs.

But now that it's popular and trendy to wear band tee outfits I gotta say I feel like a queen. AC/DC shirt and a leather skirt? Yes! Stones tee and high heels? Yes please! Every choice is a good choice and the braver the combo the better the outfit.

Обичам тениските на музикални банди още преди да станат популярни и да са навсякъде из интернет. Сега като се разхождам навън и виждам толкова много тийнейджърки да носят тениски на Nirvana или Arctic Monkeys и за всички изглежда съвсем ок и нормално. Но нека ви кажа, че не беше толкова лесно да се кефиш с такъв аутфит преди да кажем 10 години. След 80-те и големия фурор по рок бандите, когато почти всички са се разхождали с такива тениски, тази мода постепенно беше изчезнала.

И ето тук се появих аз опитвайки се да измъдря готин аутфит с тениска с рок банда през 2000 и някоя година. Единствените хора, които носеха такива тениски бяха метълите, най-често мъже и компании тийнейджъри и беше много рядка гледка да видиш момиче с такава тениска. За малкото други момичета също започнали гордо модата на тениските с банди - респект! Та така беше ми доста трудно да се порадвам на такъв аутфит без да събера няколко учудени погледи. Какво значение има. Беше ми много забавно и много често комбинирах тоалета със силна рок музика, идваща от слушалките в ушите ми хаха.

Но сега, когато вече е популярно да се носят тениски на банди, трябва да кажа че съм много доволна. Тениска на AC/DC с кожена пола? Да! Тениска на Stones с високи токчета? Да моляя! Всеки избор е добър и колкото по-смела е комбинацията, толкова по-готин е аутфита.

Mood boards! Да, едно от любимите ми неща и нещо, за което обещах да напиша пост. Обичам mood board-овете (или дъски на настроението, което звучи странно и затова няма да го ползвам :D) и правя такива доста често, даже винаги си имам една месечна. Освен това доста често ги споделям в социалните мрежи, защото просто са много готини.

Любимото ми място за търсене на вдъхновение е (барабани моля!) ...интернет! и по-специално Pinterest. Това е място с много добре категоризирано и качествено съдържание и е лесно да загубиш представа за времето скролвайки сред красиви картинки.

Обикновено правя 3 основни вида mood boards:

#1 Месечни mood boards: Според сезона, дали наближават празници, настроението ми и проектите, върху които работя в момента, избирам до 10-ина снимки, които смятам, че олицетворяват настроението на месеца. Това може да са снимки, произведения на изкуството, абстрактни рисунки или дизайни и др. Често включвам и любими зитати, части от текстове на песни, короци на музикални албуми и кадри от видеа/филми.

#2 Тематични mood boards: Това всъщност са любимите ми, защото аз съм от хората с много хобита и разнообразни интереси и  често намирам за вдъхновяващи какви ли не неща. Затова си избирам просто една тема: цвят, естетика, жанр от изборазителното изкуство или музиката, любима група или изпълнител или епоха. Това ми позволява да комбинирам много различни изображения и да направя наистина интересен mood board колаж. И щом избера тема се захващам да намеря изображения, които я представят и ми изглеждат подходящи за съчетаване едно с друго.

#3 'За момента' mood boards: Много сладка идея, която се радвам, че ми хрумна преди няколко години. Нали знаете как понякога идва някакъв тренд и всички лудват по него за месец-два?Или пък в някакъв момент започваш да слушаш някоя банда или изпълнител on repeat? Ами това е чудесен шанс за правене на 'За момента' mood board, който да включва точно тези неща, които са много вдъхновяващи и любими за теб в този момент.

Как се прави: тоест същинската ' направи си сам' част

Мисля, че е най-добре да си принтирате избраните снимки/картники, защото човешкият мозък възприема и запомня най-добре визуалният образ, такъв, който може 'да се пипне'. Може просто да ги принтиратеи да ги изрежете, така че да могат да се подредят на стена или друга повърхност близо до бюрото или друго мясдто, където прекарвате доста време. Можете също да ги закачите на връв/чица и така да ги превърнете в украшение. Друг вариант е да си направите фото колаж, които да си сложите в рамка. Има много полезни приложения, програми и уебсайтове, които може да ползвате - а освен това дори Word може да ви свърши работа ако не искате да пробвате с нещо по-сложно. Готиното е, че ако направите колаж, можете да го сложите и като тапет за телефона, таблета и/ли компютъра си. Така ще можете да носите вдъхновение със себе си навсякъде.

Mood boards! Yes, one of my favorite things and something I promised to write a post about. I love mood boards, I create ones pretty often, I always have a monthly one and I love to share them on social media because they are just so cool!

My favorite place for inspiration is ...(drumroll) the Internet! :D, especially Pinterest. It's a very organized and high quality content website and it's really easy to get lost there scrolling through beautiful pictures board after board.

I basically create 3 types of mood boards.

#1 Monthly mood boards: According to the season, upcoming holidays, my mood or what projects I'm currently working on, I choose up to 10 photos that I feel represent the vibe of the month. They mights be photographs, works of art, abstract drawings ot patterns etc. I often also include some fave quotes and song lyrics, album covers and movie/video screencaps.

#2 Themed mood boards: These are actually my fave because I'm one of those people who have lots of hobbies and interest in various areas so I often feel inspired by random different things. That's why I choose a simple theme for my mood board: a color, aesthetic, art or music genre , some fave brands, artist or time period etc. This allows me to combine really different images and make the mood board interesting. And right after I've chosen my theme I go searching for the most expressive images that represent it and I think would look good next to each other.

#3 'Current mood' mood boards: A lovely idea that I'm happy I came up with I think a few years ago. You know how sometimes a new trend comes along and everybody loves it for a few months? Or sometimes you are in a period of loving a definite singer or band and listening to their music on repeat? This is a great chance for creating a 'current mood' mood board including all those things that are exclusive inspiring and exciting for you right now.

How it's done: a.k.a. The practical DIY part

I think it's best to have the photos printed because what our brains love the most and find the most impressive is 'touchable' images. You can just print them and cut each one out so that you can organize them on a wall near your desk/work space. You could also hook them on a string/strings and turn them into decor pieces. Or you can create a photo collage to print and frame. There are many useful apps, programs and websites for that - plus even Word can do the job for you if you're not into working with new software. Cool thing is you can also use this photo collage as a wallpaper for your phone, tablet or computer. Thus you'll be able to bring inspiration everywhere.
